DAY 41 Prayer for Peaceful Reunification

This prayer mentions common holidays. Today we are coming up to Chuseok, the harvest festival when families gather. We had hoped there would be family reunions between the north side and the south side for this year's Chuseok.


May the next generation in South Korea overcome all prejudice against North Koreans, and accept them as part of one nation with one language and culture.

Lord of history, we believe that in your love you will grant this nation and people its reunification, just as you have given us the joy of liberation.

God, 70 years have passed since the North and South division after liberation. The people who celebrated the same holidays and sang the same songs have been separated between North and South and regard each other as strangers. Have mercy on us, and lead the next generation in a new direction. Give them a sense of national unity. May they discard their prejudice and envision together their unification.

Give the coming generations the maturity to prepare for reunification. Let them discard their prejudice against North Koreans and love them as you do. With your love may they recover their love for their nation. Increase their capacity for understanding and acceptance to embrace the entire world. Help the next generation walk the path toward reconciliation.

다음세대가 북한 주민에 대한 편견을 벗어나서 같은 말, 같은 문화를 가진 한민족 동포로 받아들이게 하옵소서.

역사의 주인이신 하나님, 우리 민족을 사랑하셔서 해방과 자유의 기쁨을 주신 하나님께서 이 나라, 이 민족을 통일시켜 주실 줄을 믿습니다. 

하나님, 해방 이후 남북이 갈라진지 70년이 지나고 있습니다. 함께 명절을 지내며 같은 노래를 부르던 사람들이 남북으로 나뉘어 살고 있습니다. 그사이에 말이 달라지고 문화도 달라져 서로를 남으로 여기게 되었습니다. 우리를 불쌍히 여기시고, 다음세대를 새롭게 인도하옵소서. 동포의식을 키워 주시옵소서. 편견을 버리고 통일의 꿈을 함께 꾸게 하옵소서. 

다음세대들에게 통일을 준비할 수 있는 성숙한 마음을 주시옵소서! 다음세대가 북한 주민에 대한 편견을 버리고 주님의 사랑을 본받게 하소서. 예수님의 사랑을 본받아 민족애를 회복하게 하여 주시옵소서. 서로를 이해하는 포용력이 커지고, 세계를 품는 다음세대 젊은이가 되게 하여 주시옵소서. 다음세대가 통일을 향한 여정을 가게 도와주옵소서. 예수 그리스도의 이름으로 기도합니다. 아멘.
