Christian Network for Peace

The "Christian Network for Peace" came into being in 1999 as an ecumenical Christian network to realize a peace opposed to militarization and achieved without military force. Listening to the Word of God and joining together in prayer for the realization of Christ's peace, we hope to encourage all those working for peace.

We believe that Article 9 of the Constitution of Japan is the embodiment of God's words to "beat swords into plowshares." However, there is an increasing fear that this article will be replaced with a constitutional amendment providing for armed forces. Nationalism is gaining momentum and Japan is rapidly advancing down the path toward becoming a country that is able to wage war. There is an increasingly onerous responsibility for Christians standing lookout for these times.

In order to achieve the goal of peace, Christian Network for Peace publishes a newsletter, conducts community activities such as caroling, and collaborates with other faith groups and citizen organizations. Please pray for Our Lord's guidance and support in enabling us to work to realize Christ's Peace.
