In Memoriam PARK Young Suk (1932 - 2013)

PARK Young Suk

wurde in Miryang, Kyongsang-do geboren.
Sie war mit AHN Byung Mu verheiratet, hat einen Sohn AHN Jae Kwon (dessen Ehefrau ist PARK Un-Chong) und einen Enkel AHN Su Wan.

Park Young Suk verstarb am mit 81 Jahren in den frühen Morgenstunden des 17. Mai 2013 im Severance Hospital in Seoul. Die Bestattung fand am 20. Mai 2013 statt. Ihr Grab ist liegt im Moran-Park, wo auch AHN Byung Mu (+1996), MOOM Ik Hwan, PARK Yong Gil und andere Streiter für Menschenrechte, Demokratie, Wiedervereinigung bestattet sind.

Frau PARK Young Suk hat viele Aufgaben wahrgenommen, darunter vor allem Frauenorganisationen geleitet, sich für Umweltschutz eingesetzt, „Stiftung für das Leben“ und das Forum der Frauen für Friedenspolitik, YWCA, die Bürgerinitiative für ein grünes Seoul und die Stiftung AHN Byung Mu.

Die DOAM hat gemeinsam mit EMS und BMW folgenden Nachruf herausgegeben:

“Dear friends in Korea, 
We are so sorry to hear the news that Mrs. PARK Young Sook passed away some days ago. As Berlin Mission, German East Asia Mission and as EMS we have had close connections not only to her husband Dr. AHN Byung Mu, but to her as well since the middle of the 70th. We became close to each other especially through the service of Dorothea Schweizer who has been working as an ecumenical Co-worker in the KTSI till the middle of the 80th.
We remember well how Mrs. PARK together with other women has been struggling for Human Rights and Democracy, how she later became one of the few women Members of Parliament and has been the head of the main Opposition Party for a while. Later among others she continued to be advocate for the preservation of our God given creation. We will not forget her. Please allow us to express our heartfelt condolences to all of you, especially the family.
Her son and relatives and all our friends in Korea are in our thoughts and prayers.
