DAY 51 Prayer for Peaceful Reunification

 May the North and the South break away from their state of military confrontation and ceasefire, and proclaim the news of peace in the Korean peninsula.

Almighty God, thank you for saving our nation from the ruins of the Korean War, which was tantamount to World War III. Armed forces from 20 nations fought for three years, resulting in the deaths of more than 5 million. Through two years of negotiations between the UN and the communist governments there was an armistice agreement on July 27, 1953, which continues today as a ceasefire. North and South Korea are still aiming their weapons at each other in continued confrontation and tension.

O Lord, we pray for your guidance of the political and military leaders of the North and the South. May we ease the tensions through dialogue and mutually respectful interactions. Guide the leaders of the neighboring superpowers not to stand in the way of reunification. May order be restored in Korea, delivering us from the unstable and dangerous state of ceasefire. May we be your people who contribute to world peace through peaceful reunification of the North and the South.

남북한이 휴전상태와 군사적인 대치를 벗어나서 한반도의 평화의 소식이 만방에 선포되게 하옵소서.

전능하신 하나님! 제3차 세계 대전이나 다름이 없는 6‧25전쟁에서 우리 민족을 구하여 주시어 감사드리나이다. 3년 여 동안 20여 개국 군대가 싸웠고, 5백 만 명이 넘는 인명이 죽거나 부상을 당했나이다. 유엔 측과 공산 측이 2년여에 걸친 회담을 통해 1953년 7월 27일 정전협정을 체결하였지만, 지금까지 휴전상태에 놓여 있나이다. 전쟁이 종식되지 못하고 여전히 남북이 서로 총칼을 겨누고 대치하며, 대결과 긴장이 계속되고 있습니다. 

오, 주님! 비옵기는 남북의 정치‧군사 지도자들에게 크신 은혜를 내려 주시옵소서. 대화를 통한 상호 존중과 교류를 통해서 긴장에서 벗어나게 하옵소서. 주변 강대국 지도자들을 주장하시여 한민족의 통일을 가로막지 않도록 도와주옵소서. 한반도에 평화의 질서가 세워지게 하옵소서. 불안하고 위험한 휴전 상태를 벗어나게 하옵소서. 남북의 평화통일로 세계평화에 기여하는 거룩한 하나님의 백성이 되게 하옵소서. 예수 그리스도의 이름으로 기도합니다. 아멘.
