(22.03.2024) The ceremony of the Seán MacBride Peace Prize of the International Peace Bureau took place in Berlin, Germany.

The 2023 Awardees, including Three Conscientious Objector Organizations (Russian Movement for Conscientious Objection, Our House Belarus, and the Ukrainian Pacifist Movement), were praised for supporting conscientious objectors and fostering peace in their communities.

Today's trial of Turkish-Cypriot conscientious objector Halil Karapaşoğlu at the Security Forces Court in the northern part of Nicosia was postponed to March 14, 2024.

To ensure that youth engagement is at the core of the Human Rights 75 initiative, OHCHR created a Youth Advisory Group of 12 young human rights defenders from different regions, who were tasked to implement Human Rights 75 activities and promote the initiative among youth worldwide.

The war in Ukraine mobilised a large number of men in Russia, Ukraine and Belarus. Not all men want to fight this war, though. Several reasons lie at the basis of this war resistance. A common reason is the objection by conscience, which is upheld as a human right in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, but also in many constitutions, among which those of the countries that are now at war.
